RACIAL EQUITY STATEMENT

FilmOut San Diego recognizes the social, economic, and political injustices that are consequences of racism in our contemporary society. As an organization focused on LGBTQ representation and inclusion, we understand the value of standing for the equity of all marginalized individuals. We must continue to engage in intentional action to halt the oppression of people of color. We must also confront our own LGBTQ community’s struggles with racism.

We believe that all individuals are interconnected and interdependent, and we believe that resilience and strength lie in community. As such, we remain committed to remedying the plague of racism within the LGBTQ community and beyond.

FilmOut San Diego pledges to…

• increase the diversity of our Board.

• increase the diversity of our annual festival volunteers.

• increase the diversity of creatives represented at our annual festival.

• strengthen our connections and collaborations with area festivals focused on race and ethnic representation.

• seek partnerships with organizations who serve racially diverse communities.
